Random Fact – Le Havre are the oldest team in French football
Fantastic stadium. Thats is good place to start. The Stade Oceane is a great place. The fact it is not hosting top flight fitba is a shame. The place is empty more often than not. It was sold out for Sweden v USA in the womans world cup where Megan Rapinoe the eleven games played in 2019,Balon D’or winner didnt score a penalty. I was informed also that when in the big league it struggles to sell out also, unless PSG or Marseille are in town
Le Havre may sound a bit random but there is ryhme to it. One of my work colleagues is from the area (and was in the HAC youth set up with ex Hibs and current Hamilton coach Guillaume Beuzelin who is his pal), so I was there to see him. The company was good but unfortunatley the game was of a poor standard, not much going on, but clearly only one team would win it. The team from Normandy managed by R*****s 1872-2012 legend Paul le Guen are promotion/playoff candidates and the visitors should stick to twenty four hour driving as they are poor. The league position proves this as they relegation fodder.
Le Havre went one nil up on the quarter of an hour mark and thats all the first half brought. It really was dire viewing. The second half wasnt much better and produced a second goal and leaving Le Mans second bottom and in the mire. But its tight down there and the travelling twenty or so might come good. I doubt it though.
My first game in France but a dull one at that. The night saved by a fantastic stadium and some beautiful food post game too
To Amiens where I hope the standard is better
Me 167
