Fifth tier Dutch fitba, don’t mind if I do. This was a B plan match as i was supposed to head to Rot Weiss Essen v Rot Weiss Oberhausen. Unfortunatley the men in charge of fourth tier German fitba changed the game to Sunday. With heading to Arnhem and watching Vitesse already booked I had to bin off Germany.
The fact I was watching 5th tier Dutch fitba is testament to where my fitbs geekdom has gone. I have now seen numerous second tier teams around Europe, third tier Norwegian, fourth tier German and now fifth tier Dutch fitba. Quite the collection. Sixth tier Polish next?
Sportpark Wesley Sneijder is a tidy set up. There is the main pitch surrounded by two lesser 3G pitches. There is a club house which sells beers for two Euros and hot food. All you need.
The game was pretty good. The visitors winning it and probablly deservedly so. They did shade it on the whole . They also had the best player on the pitch. The number 8 was a class above everyone. A pretty end to end affair, not dirty but both teams were in for a battle. Highlight of the match was the DHSC equalizer. Cross fired in at pace and the striker managed to adapt his body position to backheel it in. A quality finish. A random visit. Maybe on par quality wise with the upper echelons of Junior fitba in Scotland.
To Sittard
An interesting fact in regards to the Hoofdeklasse. I was struggling to find a game near Sittard. (Hence heading to Utrecht) the reason being tbe league is split into Prodestant and Catholics, the Prodestant clubs playing on the Saturday, the Catholics on the Sunday. With the south being more of a Catholic leaning all games were on Sunday.
